Question:
To ask the Minister of Health when the new respite centre in the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust will be open and used at full capacity for respite.

Answer:

The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust currently delivers residential Short Breaks from the Home at Green Hill located in Newcastle. It is the Trust’s intention to transfer this service to the Redwood site on the Belmont Road in Belfast however, providing a definitive time frame for this proposed move is not possible at this point in time due to the need to upgrade the premises.

The Trust is engaged with the Barnardos charity in a bid to secure a lease for the property however, there may be considerable works required to upgrade the Home to current Fire regulations. Barnardos has commissioned a fire risk survey which will inform the next steps.
