Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail (i) the number of children with special educational needs currently without a school place for the 2024-25 academic year; and (ii) the number of children with special educational needs given a placement for September 2024 still awaiting full access to that place while capital works are ongoing.

Answer:

The Education Authority (EA) has reported that as of 2 October, there are no children with a statement of special educational needs (SEN) who are currently without a confirmed school place.

The EA has reported that the number of children with a statement of SEN who are still awaiting full on-site access to their school placement while capital works are ongoing is 139.

Contingency arrangements are in place for all children impacted.
