To ask the Minister of Education to detail the safeguarding checks that private tutors currently undergo.

Answer:

The role of private tutors is not overseen or regulated by my department.

The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 set out the requirements for safeguarding checks, stipulating that vetting checks are required to be completed for individuals entering regulated occupations as defined in the legislation. Such checks are undertaken by AccessNI.
