Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether any work is being undertaken to improve compliance with urban clearways on major thoroughfares, such as the A1 Lisburn Road.

Answer:

Parking enforcement patrols are designed to focus enforcement in areas of most need to reduce traffic congestion, improve bus journey times and road safety and provide accessibility for all road and pavement users, including Blue Badge holders.

Enforcement patrols are specifically developed for each area, including the A1 Lisburn Road, and are kept under review to ensure they remain proportionate and address the needs of the area.

My officials are satisfied that the current level of enforcement on Urban Clearways, such as the A1 Lisburn Road, reflects the needs of the area.

Nonetheless, my Department’s parking enforcement approach is flexible and, resource permitting, can be adjusted accordingly. Requests for additional enforcement can be made to the following email address Parking.Request@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk.
