Question: To ask the Minister of Health whether his Department will introduce a Northern Ireland-specific drug tariff for pharmacies.
Answer:
Northern Ireland does have its own Drug Tariff for community pharmacies. Following the 2010 Judicial Review and subsequent consultation on improved arrangements, the then Health Minister decided that the English Drug Tariff should be used as the basis for reimbursement of medicines supplied with modifications for local NI circumstances such as services provided in NI. This policy position was re-affirmed by Minister Swann in May 2024.
