Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance for an update on her plans to reform marriage legislation.

Answer:
Members will be aware of my intention to bring forward a Bill to amend the current law on marriage and civil partnership. These important reforms will bring belief marriage within the statutory framework and increase the minimum age for marriage and civil partnership from 16 to 18.
I am pleased the Executive approved these proposals at its meeting on 26 September.
My officials have finalised instructions to Legislative Counsel and drafting work is now underway.
My expectation is that draft legislation on marriage and civil partnership will be introduced to the Assembly during 2025.
