Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities for an update on the progress towards implementing and resourcing age-friendly initiatives to ensure that older people are supported in their communities.

Answer:

My Officials have engaged with older people and their representative organisations to consider the potential content of any future Active Ageing Strategy. I will be engaging with Executive colleagues to ensure that collectively we agree the best approach to prioritising and addressing the needs of older people in our society.

Through the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme, funding is awarded to organisations to deliver support for older people in Belfast and the North & West region, enabling them to remain in their own homes and communities, as well as supporting social inclusion, health and wellbeing.
