Question: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, pursuant to AQW 15725/22-27, whether a shoreline management plan will be part of the policy framework as a means to identify and manage the risk of flooding and erosion along the coastline.
Answer:
The policies in the draft Marine Plan for Northern Ireland reflect existing Departmental responsibilities and require public authorities to have regard to Flood Risk Management Plans and associated flood risk and hazard maps. The draft Marine Plan requires public authorities to consider the potential impacts of proposals on coastal processes and coastal change, but as no department is responsible for coastal erosion risk management, shoreline management plans are not part of the policy framework.
