To ask the Minister of Education whether he has consulted with further and higher education institutions in relation to his decision to make education compulsory to 18 years old.

Answer:

The Department for the Economy (DfE) is responsible for further and higher education. My officials engaged with DfE in advance of my announcement and there will be further discussion on this proposal between departments and key stakeholders as the detail is developed.
