Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure, pursuant to AQW 14473/22-27 in relation to correspondence from the First Minister and deputy First Minister on 10 October 2024, to detail any actions he has taken in relation to the recommendations of the High Street Taskforce and determining a way forward.

Answer:

I can advise that I responded to the First Minister and deputy First Minister on the 23 October and indicated that I would be happy for my Department to be represented on any future cross-departmental group and to explore the opportunities for progressing the recommendations contained in the Task Force Report. I have, therefore, nominated my Department’s Chief Planner and Director of Regional Planning Policy and Casework, to represent the Department. You will be aware, however, that my Department continues to face ongoing pressures on budgets and resources, and the difficult reality is that this has an impact on my ability to take on new and drive forward every workstream I would like to. Certain outcomes may only be achievable over a longer period than I would want.
