Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs whether his Department is implementing any measures to prevent food waste in buildings used by his Department or its arm's-length bodies.

Answer:

My Department utilises the Department of Finance (DoF) collaborative contract for waste collection from its office buildings. This is implemented through the use of food caddies to separate and recycle food waste. In buildings not covered by this contract the relevant local council food waste recycling procedures are utilised. Where food is prepared on-site, at canteens etc, separate arrangements are in place through the relevant contracts.
