Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether his Department is implementing any measures to reduce general waste in buildings used by his Department or its arm's-length bodies.

Answer:

My Department is implementing a number of measures to reduce general waste in buildings used by my Department and its Arm’s-length Bodies (ALBs).

With the introduction of hybrid working my Department has reviewed its accommodation requirements, reducing its overall size and the subsequent waste produced. My facilities management staff promote, co-ordinate and implement green housekeeping measures, to reduce the levels of waste our buildings.

DE and our ALBs endeavour to recycle as much as possible to minimise the overall volume of general waste being sent to landfill.
