Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether his Department is implementing any measures to increase recycling rates in buildings used by his Department or its arm's-length bodies.

Answer:

My Department and its arm's-length bodies (ALBs) are fully committed to increasing recycling rates. DE has onboarded to a range of collaborative frameworks established to recycle, including but not limited to:

the repair, reuse, removal and recycling of furniture items;

the provision of dry recycling (paper, glass, cardboard, tin); and

the removal of protectively marked material for recycling.

DE and our ALBs also worked closely with colleagues in the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to eliminate unnecessary single-use plastic across our organisations.
