Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail any engagement that has taken place with the Northern Ireland Training Council in relation to teacher workload.

Answer:
In April 2024 the Workload Agreement, TNC 2024/2, was jointly approved and issued with the Northern Ireland Teachers Council (NITC).
Updated online training for school Principals, Boards of Governors and Teachers covering directed time budgets and the Workload Agreement was devised and issued by the Education Authority.
A framework to address the recommendations contained in the 8 completed workforce reviews was jointly devised with NITC.
The recommendations from the 8 completed workforce reviews have been jointly assessed with NITC and categorised into a framework.
The joint framework identifies those recommendations which;
have been completed and are now in operation in the intervening period since the reviews were carried out and agreement was reached,
are in progress with identified lead individuals and expected completion dates,
can now be progressed within existing resource in the immediate to short term,
are being addressed through other programmes of work including the DE end to end reviews of school improvement and SEN but are outside of the remit of TNC.
A timetable for the implementation of those areas which can be progressed, both immediately and over a short to medium term has now been agreed with NITC.
The focus by both Management Side and the NITC is to determine the areas of work which, once revised and implemented, will have the potential to impact positively on working practices within the education sector.
A programme of work has been jointly agreed with NITC.
