Question: To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any assessment that has been made of the amount of money his Department would save if the Help for Travel Cost scheme was updated to include people on Universal Credit, therefore removing the requirement to process HC1 forms.
Answer:
Help for travel costs is available through the Health Service Low Income Scheme (HS LIS) which is the responsibility of the Department of Health (DoH). Therefore, my department has not completed any assessment of the potential financial savings of including people on Universal Credit in the Scheme and removing the requirement to process HC1 forms.
