Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail the reasons for the delay of Marine Gardens Public Realm Project, Bangor, until January 2025.

Answer:

Significant progress has been made over recent weeks and months, and the final planning approval has been granted by Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Planning Committee, at its meeting on 5 November 2024.

Completion of the necessary legal agreements is anticipated in the coming weeks which will pave the way for construction of Phase 1 to commence in January 2025. This has been delayed to minimise the impact to trade in the city centre during the busy holiday period.
