To ask the Minister for Communities for an update on a time frame for the enactment of section 7 of the Private Tenancies Act (Northern Ireland) 2022.

Answer:

I have instructed my officials to take forward the necessary work to commence the power to restrict the frequency of rent increases to once in any 12-month period, with 3 months notice, as permitted by Section 7 of the Private Tenancies Act. I expect to commence this power early next year.
