Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs whether his Department is implementing any measures to reduce general waste in buildings used by his Department or its arm's-length bodies.

Answer:

In the implementation of The Single-Use Plastic Reduction Action Plan my Department led on work, in partnership with the Department of Finance (DoF), to ensure the removal of all unnecessary single-use plastic from the government estate.

Staff are also reminded of the need to reduce paper waste through printing only when necessary.

Where food, or other waste, is generated it is dealt with through DoF collaborative contracts or local government arrangements to ensure separation of waste streams to reduce general waste through recycling.
