Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure, pursuant to AQW 17600/22-27, to detail (i) the time-bound restrictions for each large town and city; and (ii) the maximum length of time that cars are permitted to park.

Answer:
Time-bound restrictions that are applied across each city and large town in Northern Ireland are set out in a considerable volume of secondary legislation. This legislation sets out the restrictions in detail, authorises the lengths of road to be used as parking places, the hours of operation and the maximum length of stay. In addition, each piece of legislation defines any exceptions which apply to these restrictions.
Given the large volume of relevant legislation setting out the vast range of parking restrictions applicable within cities and towns across Northern Ireland, a significant commitment of staff resources and time would be required to extract and collate this information at disproportionate cost. Therefore, regrettably my Department is unable to provide the information requested.
Detail relating to the time-bound restrictions within the Controlled Parking Zones in Belfast, Lisburn and Newry can be found in the On-Street Parking Order (Northern Ireland) 2000.
In addition, it may be helpful for the Member to know that the Statutory Rules setting out parking restrictions in cities and towns across Northern Ireland can be viewed via the link below with details relating to specific cities or towns found using the search facility:
