Question:
To ask the Assembly Commission (i) whether an MLA can retain and use their current Assembly issued printer for the constituency office; and (ii) whether an MLA can buy toner and a printer from another constituency office that is moving to use a new printer.

Answer:
MLAs may retain and use the existing Assembly Commission-issued printer provided for their constituency office, until such time as a new Assembly Members expenses determination is published by the Assembly Commission, allowing for an appropriate transition period to the new printer arrangements.
In relation to the purchase of printers, an MLA cannot buy an Assembly Commission-issued printer from another MLA, as the printer is the property of the Assembly Commission. While it is possible for MLAs to buy toner from another MLA, the process for doing so should be agreed with the Finance Office. MLAs can however return unused and unopened toners to Office Resources for a refund.
