Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail the number of public liability claims for personal injury (i) received; and (ii) concluded in each of the last five years, broken down by road user type.
Answer:
The management information my Department holds in relation to roads related public liability claims can be found online or via the at: https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/publications/road-asset-maintenance-directorate-management-information-roads-related-claims-period-20192020 Table 1 in the above link provides details of (i) the number of public liability personal injury claims received during the last five full financial years. However, please note that although the majority of personal injury claims are from pedestrians, my Department cannot disaggregate between personal injury claims from pedestrians, cyclists or motorists. Table 4 in the above link provides details of (ii) the number of public liability personal injury claims concluded during the last five full financial years. Again, please be cognisant of the above caveat regarding the disaggregation of road users. I would, however, advise the member and other members using the above link to be cognisant of the other caveats noted in respect to the information provided on roads related public liability claims.
