Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether he plans to make regulations as enabled by Article 23 of the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 to provide for the removal of members of a Board of Governors in specified circumstances.

Answer:

The Department has the power, under the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 (the 2003 Order), to make Regulations that provide for the removal and replacement of a Board of Governors (BoG) that is failing to provide effective leadership.

I have asked officials to bring forward proposals for my consideration.
