Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether he will prioritise delivery of road safety education in the Northern Ireland Curriculum.

Answer:
There are already opportunities throughout the Northern Ireland curriculum for teachers to deliver road safety education.
At primary level, the Personal Development and Mutual Understanding Area of Learning requires teachers to enable pupils to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in keeping themselves healthy and safe.
At post-primary level, the Learning for Life and Work Area of Learning requires that pupils should have opportunities to “develop preventative strategies in relation to accidents in the home, school and on the road”.
Additionally, The Department of Infrastructure provide educational road safety resources which primary and post primary schools can avail of.
