To ask the Minister of Education, pursuant to AQW 18006/22-27, to detail the number of referrals to the Education Authority's Educational Psychology Service from a designated medical officer that have been (i) taken forward; and (ii) rejected in each of the last five years.
Answer:
(i) The Education Authority (EA) has provided the data on referrals to Educational Psychology Services (EPS) made by Designated Medical Officers which include Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), over the last five years: | 2019/ 20 | 2020/ 21 | 2021 /22 | 2022/ 23 | 2023/ 24 | Total | Referrals to EPS from designated Medical Officers | 838 | 809 | 859 | 650 | 594 | 3,750 |
(ii) The EA does not hold data on cases that have been rejected centrally.
