Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for an update on the progress of a new build for Bangor Central Integrated Primary School, including a timescale for completion.

Answer:

I announced Bangor Central Integrated Primary School to proceed to construction on 28 May 2024.

Following a review of the proposed project a reduction in the total enrolment numbers at the school in recent years was identified, which prompted my officials to engage with school representatives and the school’s Managing Authority regarding the implications of this reduction in enrolment.

I am happy to report that agreement regarding the size of the school and provision of Enhanced Learning Support has now been reached between all parties and the Integrated Consultant Team have updated the final design accordingly.

The process to procure an Integrated Supply Team is imminent and the current programme estimates construction commencement in October 2025 with completion in April 2027.
