To ask the Minister of Health when he will commission scalp reconstruction surgery.

Answer:

My Department commissions surgical care on a speciality rather than procedure basis. Scalp reconstruction surgery can be a clinically required response to immediate or post trauma injury, cancer or congenital malformation. It may also range in complexity from wound management through to highly specialist reconstructive techniques requiring input from a number of specialities. My Department is unaware of any specific issues in accessing clinical care across these services as outlined.
