Question: To ask the Minister of Education, pursuant to AQW 15112/22-27, for an update on his assessment of the implications of the Good Jobs Employment Rights Bill on (i) teachers; (ii) supply teachers; and (iii) other temporary staff within the education system.
Answer:
The Education Authority has provided comprehensive feedback as part of the public consultation on the Good Jobs Employment Bill, including the reliance of the education sector on the requirement for short term cover at short notice for a range of posts including substitute teachers. To date, there has been no feedback provided on the public consultation process, nor has a draft Bill been published. When a draft Bill is published and details are available on any proposed changes, it is anticipated that an education working group will be established to assess the impact of the proposals on all services.
