To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail (i) the number of schools not included on the current gritting schedules, broken down by constituency; and (ii) the estimated cost of including these schools in future gritting schedules.

Answer:

My department does not hold the information requested but does carry out secondary salting to 80 Rural Schools when required, after the primary salted network has been treated, broken down by Division

7 Northern

30 Southern

2 Eastern

41 Western

The inclusion of these schools on future gritting schedules and the cost of such an action would require a large scale review of the current salted network and an evaluation of this change on a cost/benefit basis.
