Question: To ask the Minister of Education (i) why his departmental officials are developing a new Transformation process for schools making a Case for Change to become integrated; and (ii) to provide an indication of when the public consultation on the proposed changes will be held.
Answer:
Transformation is the legal process by which a non-Integrated school becomes integrated. This process is set out in the legislation in the Education Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 1989. In line with the commitment in the Integrated Education Strategy, my officials are reviewing the supporting Transformation guidance, Integration Works Transforming Your School to ensure it is fit for purpose. Any new guidance will continue to reflect the statutory Transformation process set out in the legislation.
