To ask the Minister of Finance to detail any initiatives being developed to address skills gaps around the use of Artificial Intelligence in the public sector.

ANSWER

The NICS has a growing interest in exploring the effective and appropriate use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, which may present opportunities for enhancing public service delivery.

I want to ensure the NICS is a digitally enabled workforce. Within my department, we are already exploring use of AI in our service delivery, and NICSHR’s Learning & Development team is beginning to reference AI within its own relevant learning interventions.

As the understanding on the effective use of AI in the NICS develops, so too will initiatives to develop skills in this area.
