Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any consideration he has given to updating regulations to allow taxi drivers to work with multiple operators, similar to the model in parts of England, to increase driver income and improve service availability.
Answer:
Under section 3(7) of the Taxis Act (NI) 2008 it is not possible for a taxi driver to be affiliated to more than one licensed operator, though it is possible to switch driver affiliation between operators at a cost of £5. I currently have no plans to update this section of the Taxis Act (NI) 2008.
