To ask the Minister of Education when the role of special educational needs classroom assistants in preschool settings will begin.

Answer:

As part of my commitment to early intervention, my intention is to commence a pilot to introduce special educational needs (SEN) Classroom Assistants in a sample of preschool education settings in the 2025/26 academic year, subject to success in my department’s bid to the NICS Transformation Fund.
