Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail (i) the selection process for the experts on the International Ministerial Advisory Panel on Curriculum and Assessment in Northern Ireland; and (ii) the remuneration each will receive.

Answer:

I have appointed prominent individuals with a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in matters of education policy, particularly curriculum and assessment to the International Ministerial Advisory Panel via Direct Award Contracts.

All candidates were assessed as suitable for appointment by officials.

Panel members will receive a daily rate of £500 for their professional time and advice. Members will only be remunerated for days worked. This the same level as the Chairs of the Independent Review of Education and the Education Underachievement Panel and less than the per diem rate for a Director in the Northern Ireland Civil Service.
