Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to detail (i) how the Strategic Framework to End Violence Against Women and Girls will address the distinct experiences of older female victims of domestic abuse; and (ii) any cross-departmental strategies under the framework to address ageism and its role in exacerbating elder abuse.

Answer:
The Strategic Framework to End Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) is designed to address the whole range of gender-based violence, abuse and harm that is disproportionately experienced by women and girls.
Age NI played a key role in the co-design process for developing the Strategic Framework. The voices of those with lived experience, including older women, were central to shaping its design. This approach will continue throughout implementation through various mechanisms including the Insights and Reference Network.
Department for Communities officials were part of the co-design process of the EVAWG Strategic Framework. This will ensure that it complements and supports the ongoing work of the Department for Communities, including on how best to build on the previous Executive Active Ageing Strategy.
