Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance and Personnel to report on the status of the Regional Economic Strategy.

Answer:

I have decided that work on an economic strategy for Northern Ireland needs to fully reflect key policy reviews currently underway within the Executive. The recent announcement by the Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Investment commissioning a fundamental review of economic development policy is a material issue that any economic strategy will need to embrace.

The revised strategy will also have to reflect the review of the Programme for Government goals relating to economic growth.

An inter-departmental steering group has been established to take forward work on this strategy, reflecting these key policy assessments and updates.
