Question: To ask the Minister of Health to detail the current waiting list for adult autism assessments, broken down by Health and Social Care Trust.
Answer:
Health and Social Care Trusts (HSCTs) are responsible for the provision of Autism Services. HSCTS have outlined the following approximate current waiting list for adults awaiting assessment for an Autism diagnosis. Northern Health and Social Care Trust: Due to the recent move to Encompass, the Trust advised current data regarding the waiting list for Adult Autism diagnostic assessment is not currently available. Data available as at October 2024 indicates 1479 adults awaiting assessment for an autism diagnosis. Southern Health and Social Care Trust: Currently 472 adults waiting for Autism diagnostic assessments. Belfast Health and Social Care Trust: Currently 608 adults awaiting Autism diagnostic assessment. Western Health and Social Care Trust: Currently 461 adults awaiting Autism diagnostic assessment. South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust: Currently 833 adults awaiting Autism diagnostic assessment. My Department, working with other departments, HSCTs, agencies and stakeholders remains committed to ensuring adults with Autism and their Carers receive appropriate service provision.
