Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister for an update on their discussions with NIE in relation to potential compensation for those who have been without power for multiple days.

Answer:

We are mindful of the ongoing significant impact on the thousands of people without power as a result of Storm Éowyn.

We met with the Managing Director from Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE) on Saturday 25 January, and at the Executive meeting on Monday 27 January urged him to consider how NIE could provide support to those families and businesses impacted by the effects of Storm Éowyn.

Since the Executive meeting we have received an update from NIE that they have had exploratory conversations with the Department for Economy and the Utility Regulator.
