Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail any actions he is taking to create a training and career pathway for classroom assistants.

Answer:

The Education Authority (EA) employs the majority of classroom assistants working in schools across Northern Ireland. The EA has commenced a strategic review of the classroom assistant employment model which includes a specific workstream on professional standards, career pathways and professional development. This work is at an early stage and is linked to the wider Special Educational Needs reform programme.
