Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether occupational therapists are required to (i) be consulted on; and (ii) sign-off equipment purchased for a Specialist Provision in Mainstream Schools' classroom.

Answer:
General classroom equipment does not require approval from an Occupational Therapist (OT) and is procured by individual schools.
The Education Authority (EA) may purchase child-specific equipment for specialist provision classrooms on the recommendation of an OT. It is a matter for Health to have the appropriate governance and sign-off in place regarding OTs’ recommendations.
