Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy, pursuant to AQW 20406/22-27, to detail any engagement her Department has had with the (i) UK Government; and (ii) the European Union in relation to Artificial Intelligence regulation.

Answer:
The regulatory frameworks to govern artificial intelligence are the responsibility of the British government and potentially the EU.
Artificial Intelligence regulation featured as part of previous discussions between the Minister and the British government, including those on the AI Opportunities Action Plan.
My department officials have also engaged with counterparts in DSIT on potential future British Government regulation.
In addition to engaging with the British Government on the substance of the EU act, my officials have also emphasised to their counterparts the importance of providing NICS timely information on the parts of the act that the EU wishes to apply to the Windsor Framework under Article 13(4).
