Question:
To ask the Minister of Health when the regional model for transient ischaemic attack assessment will be operational, which will deliver a seven days a week service of specialist assessment within 24 hours of symptoms.

Answer:
Targets within the Stroke Action Plan including those listed above, were caveated that additional resource in a challenging financial climate would be required in order to deliver. Expansion of current Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) services from 5 to 7 day working with the capacity to respond within 24 hours, will require significant investment in radiology staff and capacity as well as stroke workforce.
However, I recognise the importance of TIA management in the prevention of stroke and can advise that regional guidance on TIA management has been developed in 2024 and circulated to HSC Trusts to maximise implementation within existing resources.
