Question:
To ask the Minister of Health, in relation to the Stroke Action Plan, (i) whether he has met the target of 15 per cent of ischaemic stroke admissions receiving thrombolysis by March 2023; and (ii) whether he is on course to meet the 20 per cent target by March 2025.

Answer:
I am pleased to confirm that Northern Ireland achieved a 15% thrombolysis rate in 2022/23 with 448 patients receiving the acute intervention.
However, in line with a changing evidence base using machine learning and clinical pathway simulation, the national target will move from 20% to 18% by 2025/26. Each hospital will be given its own thrombolysis target which will be monitored through the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme.
