To ask the Minister of Health to detail the current waiting list for a laparoscopy to treat endometriosis, broken down by Health and Social Care Trust.

Answer:

Unfortunately, HSC Trusts are unable to distinguish which patients are requiring an endometriosis diagnosis as this information is not recorded on hospital systems. Patients also have laparoscopes for other conditions than endometriosis.

To provide this information would be at disproportionate cost, this would require potentially trawling through hundreds of patient records on inpatient and day case waiting lists to ascertain if they are waiting for an investigative or treatment surgery for suspected endometriosis.
