Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities (i) whether his objectives and funding for the arts sector from 2025-26 will be based on co-production and co-design with the Arts Council and organisations and individuals delivering the arts; and (ii) to provide the evidence of this consultation.

Answer:

My department works closely with the Arts Council to understand the community value and economic impact that can be delivered by arts activity. This work, along with engagement with Executive Departments, district councils and other stakeholders, is informing the development of the Arts Policy, with which Arts Council strategies, activities and funding will be aligned. The draft Policy will be subject to public consultation.

Recognising that the Policy remains under development, I have written to the Arts Council to lay out my priorities for the Council’s activities for 2025-26.

Within those parameters, and in line with its Strategic Plan, the detailed allocation of its funding is a matter for the Arts Council.
