Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on traffic calming measures at Orpen Park, Finaghy, given that consultation was due to be brought to a conclusion in November 2024.

Answer:

I acknowledge the concerns raised by residents of Orpen Park, Finaghy, in relation to vehicle speeds and road safety. I have asked my officials to consider the most appropriate action to bring this matter to a conclusion and to provide an update to residents before the summer of 2025.

One of the best ways to ensure safety on our roads and fulfil our long-term goal of eliminating death and serious injury by 2050, is by changing road user behaviour. As road users we all have a personal responsibility to behave in a way that keeps ourselves and others safe. The sad reality is that if we do not change our own attitudes when we are using the roads, our death toll will continue to increase.
