Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail the rationale for the proposed North Belfast to South Belfast Glider route within the Belfast Rapid Transit Phase 2 being through Royal Avenue.

Answer:

My Department is proud to work in partnership with colleagues in the Department for Communities and Belfast City Council in the delivery of the Streets Ahead and Bolder Vision Initiatives.

My department will contribute to these initiatives by designing and constructing the northern civic spine of the city, along Donegal Place and Royal Avenue which will include the city centre bus priority measures required for BRT2.

By directing the North/South Glider route through Royal Avenue, my department will increase accessibility for users to the city centre and support city centre living through the creation of safe and green streets, providing a viable and sustainable alternative to the private car.
