Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for an update on a new school building for Priory Integrated College, Holywood.

Answer:

The plans for the new school build for Priory Integrated College are well advanced. The technical design and pre-tender estimate (RIBA Stage 4) report was lodged with the Department on 18 December 2024 and this is currently being reviewed by the Department’s technical advisers.

Due to an increase in estimated project costs a Business Case Addendum (BCA) is required and this will be prepared by the Education Authority following the conclusion of the review of the Stage 4 report.

However, following conclusion of this current stage, the project will unfortunately be unable to progress to the construction stage until there is sufficient budget available to do so.

I will of course continue to make a strong case for increased and sustained capital funding for Education, to permit this and many other much needed school build projects to proceed to construction as soon as possible.
