Question:
To ask the Minister of Health, pursuant to AQW 20558/22-27, for an update on the review of the delegation of healthcare and nursing tasks under Direct Payments.

Answer:

My Department’s Chief Nursing Officer has commissioned the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC) to lead a review of the Direct Payments process to address the issues that have arisen in relation to the delegation of healthcare tasks.

This approach includes engagement with key stakeholders, and meetings have already been held with people with lived experience and advocacy groups to establish the practices currently in operation and identify viable pathways to facilitate the safe and effective delegation of healthcare in line with the governing guidelines and legislation.

The review is anticipated to be completed by Autumn 2025.
