To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any impact the increased frequency of reassessments for disability benefits will have on processing times and appeals in Northern Ireland.

Answer:

My Department is currently engaging with the Department for Work and Pensions to assess the impact for Northern Ireland of the proposed changes to disability benefits outlined in the Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working Green Paper. I am committed to ensuring that Northern Ireland has a welfare system that is fair for claimants and taxpayers and protects the most vulnerable. I will continue to engage with the UK Government to ensure that this happens, and also with Executive colleagues.
