Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy for her assessment of the Climate Change Committee’s report entitled Northern Ireland’s Fourth Carbon Budget: Advice for the Northern Ireland Executive.

Answer:

The Climate Change Committee’s advice aligns with the Executive’s Energy Strategy, ‘The Path to Net Zero Energy’, in mapping a pathway to a secure, affordable and sustainable energy system. Decarbonisation is one of my key economic priorities and I support a just transition to net zero that generates prosperity for all. My officials will continue to support DAERA in all aspects relating to the Climate Change legislation and in bringing forward the proposed Fourth Carbon Budget to the Assembly before the end of 2025.
